Guest Cabin Renovations
They say time flies when you’re having fun, and 2024 whizzed by in the blink of an eye. It was fantastic to welcome so many returning guests and enjoy a full uninterrupted season. We kicked things off in late June retrofitting one of our duplex guest cabins. We couldn’t be happier with the results! The ensuite toilets, energy efficient heaters, increased insulation, new triple paned windows and spacious shared living area sure makes guests stay that much more comfortable.
Lake Trout Fishing, Nature – Outdoor & Learning Experiences
2024 also brought a lot of excitement with a new fly-fishing lake trout record at 39 lbs. Numerous trophy lake trout were caught and released while some of the shakers were kept for those delicious shore lunches. As our peak fishing season winded down, we shifted to our outdoor nature-based adventures. Guests exploring the barrens had the opportunity to learn from renowned naturalist and author Page Burt and guides shared personal knowledge of the fur industry & Inuit tools.
Wildlife Photography and Northern Lights
Wildlife sightings were plentiful with caribou frequently spotted near the lodge in addition to a Moose. There were also a few extraordinary moments that stand out, including watching a Muskox bed down to enjoy a nap directly in front of the lodge, and the unforgettable sight when the white Arctic Wolf was spotted behind the lodge, howled to his pack and hearing them respond. Despite a rainier than normal fall, every autumn group had at least one clear night sky to marvel at the northern lights.
The close out crew did all the necessary lodge shut down tasks, general maintenance and packed up at the end of September to ensure everything is ready for 2025. Next summer will be here before you know it and some weeks are beginning to sell out. So, if you’re considering joining us now is the perfect time to book!
