7-Day BIG Fish Package
BIG Trout, that’s our thing. So if you’re looking for trophy sized lake trout, this is it.
Fly-out on a charter float plane over 200 miles North of Yellowknife to Point Lake, one of the largest rivers on the Coppermine River system. Typically ice-free by the second week in July, Point Lake offers the ideal environment to fish for trophy lake trout. And it’s no wonder that MonsterQuest sent wildlife biologist Dick Sternberg to investigate the giant lake trout that eluded angler Conrad Pilon. After struggling to reel in a fish he had on the line for hours the fish eventually got away when his equipment couldn’t take the tension and snapped. This is one of the reasons a minimum of 25lb test line is recommended.
Aside from the legendary story and others like it there have been many that have been successfully caught and released, the current record is 58lbs.
Enjoy the camaraderie of small groups and personalized service.

Itinerary
Day 1
Flight To Peterson's Point Lake Lodge
7:00 AM |
One of our team members will pick you up at your hotel and drive you to the Air Tindi float base. While your luggage is weighted and the plane loaded, enjoy a lakeside complimentary breakfast and celebratory beverage before your 75 minute scenic float plane flight. Upon your arrival, you’ll be greeted by the team and after an orientation, cabin assignments and a safety briefing over lunch you can enjoy the rest of the day fishing for trophy lake trout.
Day 2 - 7
Your Typical Day
7:00 AM |
Begin your day with a spectacular lakeside view. Enjoy a steaming hot cup of coffee and nourishing breakfast. This is a great time to discuss the days’ activities; anglers & guides can plan lunch whether they prefer to take a prepared picnic lunch or stop for an incredible shore lunch and talk about fishing locations. It is easy to follow along on the Point Lake map hung on the lodge wall. Each day at Point Lake is unique, as insects, weather and fishing action will influence the day’s activities. Anglers often depart for a day of fishing at 8:00 AM, returning to the lodge around 6 PM. That being said, this is your trip and you have the freedom to decide what time you want to head out fishing in the morning.
At days end we welcome you to share stories of the day over drinks in the gazebo, in the lounge and while enjoying a home cooked meal; take advantage of the wood-fired sauna, overlook the spectacular scenery from your porch and in the privacy of your guest cabin. And, if you still long more fishing, be sure to grab a road and fish for Arctic Grayling in the small lake behind your guest cabin.
Day 8
Last Day And Return To Yellowknife
7:00 AM |
Even with an early start you likely won’t see the sunrise, this is land of the midnight sun, and nature makes getting up early. Enjoy a leisurely breakfast before packing for your return flight to Yellowknife. Your flight departs at approximately 8:45 AM, landing you in Yellowknife at approximately 10:30 AM. Our team members will be at the float base to meet you and take you to the airport or hotel. If time permits, we’re happy to take you shopping at the local gift shop and/or grab a bite to eat at one of the local restaurants.
